People often think that weight loss is all about diet and exercise. Well, I think I have made it pretty clear by now that it ain’t. The way our brains work, the reasons we crave food and find it hard to change, our emotions, stress and our thoughts have so much to do with why so many people cannot lose weight.
Our past stressors, traumas, current emotions and way we perceive ourselves and the world around definitely have a big impact on your weight loss journey. It should not be underestimated. That is the reason it can be really really helpful and crucial as a part of some peoples weight loss journey to have a counsellor or psychologist. Maybe you won’t need one but don’t ignore this component. Whether is it self-reflection or writing your own thoughts down change must happen here as well as the others more common areas like diet and physical activity.
